Gu Shu Wang by Purple Cane
< ReturnYunnan Mengku Tea
Yunnan Mengku Tea refers to tea made of leaves harvested from tea trees of the large-leaved species in the Mengku area. Branches radiating high up from the tall tree trunk spread out in the course of its vibrant growth. Oval-shaped leaves measuring about 17cm x 6cm are longer than wide. With surface noticeably raised, these dark-green leaves are fleshy and soft to the touch with a leathery feel. Curling at the edge towards the underside, the leaves have prominent veins and serrated edges with a few large teeth. The yellowish-green buds and leaves covered in a layer of downy hair are robust and stay tender for longer. Tree seedlings tend to germinate and emerge early. These leaves are superior for tea production.
Exquisitely Crafted
Purple Cane’s "Gu Shu Wang” is a brand of Puer green tea cakes (qing bing) originating from the ecological tea region of Mengku in the Yunnan Province, China. A house brand exquisitely made to carry on the concepts of tea crafting exemplified by the “Qian Nian Ye Sheng Bing” series (2001-2007), the tea is ideal for both immediate enjoyment and extended storage. It has been released annually in a fixed quantity since 2008.
After stringent selection of large-leaved tea trees from different mountains and villages in the region, young tender leaves harvested in the early spring of 2020 were carefully processed into sheng cha and then compressed into discs of 500g each. The strips are stout and glossy with fine white downy hair. The crystal clear golden infusion imparts an aroma typical of young, tender buds with a hint of honey date. It offers a well-developed flavour and rounded mouthfeel that is refreshingly pleasant, evolving into a delightfully sweet aftertaste for an even more gratifying tea experience.
